It had happened only three other times in 88 years of Clemson Football – perfection. That’s what coach Danny Ford and his Clemson Tigers were looking for when they traveled to the 1982 Orange Bowl to take on Nebraska. As The Tigers and the Cornhuskers entered the fourth quarter, #3 Alabama had fallen and #2 Georgia was upset by Pittsburgh in the sugar Bowl. Suddenly, #1 Clemson and #4 Nebraska were both playing for the National Championship. Nebraska came into the Orange Bowl with one of the top offenses in the nation, led by future NFL stars Mike Rozier, Roger Craig, Irving Fryar, and massive center Dave Rimington. Clemson’s plan was to counter the Huskers’ high-powered offense with a lightning-quick and very athletic defense that featured All-American safety Terry Kinard and a soon-to-be celebrity, 295-pound freshman guard William “The Refrigerator” perry. In the end it was top-ranked Clemson with a 22-15 win over Nebraska for the Tiger’s first National title. This DVD contains the complete 1982 Orange Bowl game, with coverage from NBC Sports, without commercial interruption, presented in full-screen digital video. Chapter points on the DVD’s main menu allow viewers to jump directly to the action, quarter by quarter.
